3 Months of Development!

We’ve been overcoming a lot of hurdles this past month, and it’s high time I’ve finally posted an update! We’ve decided that there is no better name to title our game than “Astral Styx”! It seems to have the most meaning towards the game, and we think it’s still an appealing title! Along with that we’ve established some more of the art direction we’re going for. I can only show just a little bit though!

Over the past month and a half, I’ve onboarded another artist to help me with the workload. This artist has chosen to remain anonymous for the meantime, so I can’t tell you who. However, they’ve been of great help in expanding the vision and aesthetic of the environments. As we go further into development, the levels will begin to reflect more of the fantastical and dreamlike aesthetic shown above.

Alongside that, our current progress has been quite fruitful. Though there is still much I’d like to show, I hope you like what you see thus far!

ASTRAL STYX Prototype Gameplay (as of November 24, 2024)

(Morgan Running, Orthographic Side Profile)

As the end of the year draws near, we are nearing completion of our prototype demo for public access! The team and I are hard at work implementing all the features necessary to provide as solid of an experience as we can provide this early in development. Currently, we are using royalty-free music as we don’t have the bandwidth to make music at this time. However, we will have our own music in the full release!

As far as what to expect regarding the demo, we’re looking to publish our demo on Steam sometime in January of this upcoming year of 2025. As for mobile access, we have not yet decided when we will publish our demo for mobile devices, nor what platforms we will be publishing it on. We do intend on having closed beta tests throughout the year, so I hope those of you will take interest in helping us continue to make this game as solid an experience as possible!
